TANTV News Civic/Political Voices network is designed to connect civic leaders, public officials, and trusted community voices directly with the residents they serve through a local news infrastructure.
TANTV Local News (TANTV DMV) announces the launch of its new Civic & Political Voices network, a dedicated channel for civic leaders, public officials, and informed community voices to share timely commentary, policy explanations, and neighborhood updates directly with residents. The initiative strengthens TANTV’s mission to provide trusted, community-centered journalism that helps people better understand the issues shaping their lives.
“As a TANTV Local News – Civic & Political Voices Network member, you joins us in strengthening trusted, community-centered journalism,” said TANTV CEO Adedayo Fashanu O. “At TANTV, our mission is to elevate thoughtful, informed perspectives that help communities better understand the issues shaping their lives, and we believe trusted voices and informed commentary are essential to sustaining a healthy and engaged public discourse.”
Through the Civic & Political Voices network, TANTV will provide a structured, journalistic alternative to standalone commentary platforms and amplify the voices of select members of the network, ensuring that insights from civic leaders are distributed through a local news ecosystem designed to reach community audiences. Network members will be able to share perspectives (commentary, op-eds, speeches, essays, newsletters, Substack posts, etc.) on topics ranging from public safety and economic development to education, immigration, neighborhood investment, and more, with content distributed across TANTV’s local and national footprint.

Direct Pathway to Community Audiences
The Civic & Political Voices initiative is designed to:
- Provide a trusted channel for civic leaders and community voices to communicate directly with residents.
- Share timely commentary, policy explainers, and community updates in a clear, accessible format.
- Strengthen transparency and engagement between local government, community institutions, and the public.
“Our local newsrooms are rooted in civic journalism and deep community listening, and this network extends that work by opening up a space for leaders and changemakers to speak directly to the communities they serve,” said Fashanu.
Amplified Distribution and Social Reach
Content from Civic & Political Voices contributors will be distributed across TANTV’s syndication network, which includes MSN, Yahoo, Flipboard, Google News, Ground News, URL Media, NewsBreak, and other platforms, ensuring that commentary reaches residents where they already consume news. TANTV’s editorial team will coordinate publication and cross-platform distribution for content relevant to community information needs.
The initial members of the network are carefully selected through a closed process based on our newsroom criteria, including civic leaders, public officials, and community commentators. In the future, TANTV will invite members to apply to the Local News – Civic & Political Voices network program. Selected members will be featured as part of TANTV’s ongoing civic and political coverage, alongside reporting that serves communities across the greater Washington, D.C. region and beyond.
