TANTV Partners URL Media Network to Expand Local News & Information Access

TANTV announces a strategic partnership with URL Media, joining a network of 35 high-performing Black and Brown news organizations. This collaboration aims to center the voices of diaspora communities, tackle underrepresentation in media, and expand access to vital local news and information.

Washington, D.C. – Leading modern multicultural media publication TANTV and URL Media, a network of 35 high-performing Black and Brown news media organizations reaching over 20million people, announce a partnership to center the voices and perspectives of Black audiences and diaspora communities. TANTV is one of three newly announced media organizations, including Baltimore Beat and Parlé Magazine, to join the URL Media Network. The partnership comes at a crucial time when trust in mainstream media is waning, and there’s an increasing demand for diverse content and perspectives.

“Our new additions to the URL network produce the journalism we know our communities crave, such as local news and entertainment, in the formats they want, such as streaming and IRL events. I’m looking forward to learning from them and amplifying their content widely,” said CEO and Co-Founder of URL Media, S. Mitra Kalita.

Through this partnership, both organizations will address several key objectives:

  • Tackle the persistent underrepresentation of Black and Brown voices in mainstream media while promoting authentic, community-driven journalism.
  • Advance the inclusion and representation of African, Black diaspora & multicultural communities, enabling brands to reach a diverse audience.  
  • Expand the reach and enhance the sustainability of media outlets serving communities of color through content syndication and advertising partnerships.

“For a long time, we at TANTV have been sounding the alarm that multicultural audiences have been left out of American mainstream media. URL Media understands the issue [of representation] as a media network that deeply cares about underserved communities and amplifies our mission of being a bridge that connects brands to reach a multicultural audience,” says founder and CEO of TANTV Adedayo Fashanu.
