Still deciding what to wear on October 31? Google has released its annual Frightgeist list, which uses Google Trends data to show the costumes surging in searches ahead of Halloween. This year’s list is packed with horror movie characters, viral toys and pop culture favorites. Here are the 12 top trending Halloween costumes of 2026, according to Google.
Buddy the Unicorn

The top costume is Buddy the Unicorn, a character from the 2026 horror flick Buddy. It is a playful combination of rainbow-colored fun and horror-like fun, making it a popular costume for Halloween. Buddy also tops Google’s list of trending horror movie costumes.
NeeDoh

Last year, Labubu dominated Halloween searches. This year, the No. 2 spot belongs to NeeDoh, the squishy fidget toy that has become hugely popular with tweens. There is no single way to dress as a stress toy, so expect plenty of creative, homemade versions on Halloween night.
Nikki from Obsession

Obsession became one of the year’s biggest horror hits, and its lead character, Nikki, landed at No. 3. Her outfit is one of 2026’s most copied movie looks. Google says searches for a red zebra halter top, worn by Nikki, reached an all-time high after the film’s release.
Agamemnon from The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey pushed agamemnon up search engine results as the Greek king who commanded the army against Troy roared into theaters last month. It ranks 4th, but be prepared to don some hefty armor for the rest of the night.
Lily Lovebraids

Lily Lovebraids from the horror video game series Poppy Playtime takes the No. 5 spot. Her signature hairstyle is a big part of the look. According to Google, she is the top trending costume searched alongside the word braid this year.
Oliver Tree

The sixth spot on the list is for singer and internet personality, Oliver Tree. The singer, who was known for his bowl haircut, retro style, and appearance in a pop band, died at the age of 32 in a helicopter crash in Brazil in June. You can get his look by using a wig for a bowl haircut and vintage dress.
Verity from Minecraft

Verity, a character from Minecraft, lands at No. 7. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, and its characters remain a popular choice for both kids and adults. Its blocky style also makes it one of the easier looks to build at home.
Carl from Dungeon Crawler Carl

The cult-favorite Dungeon Crawler Carl series, created by author Matt Dinniman, earned a spot in the top 10 with its title character at No. 8. Fans of the series may also want to add his famous sidekick, a cat named Princess Donut, to complete the look.
Disco Scooby-Doo

Scooby-Doo is back in style, this time with a groovy disco twist at No. 9. The look is also popular for pairs: Disco Scooby-Doo and Shaggy top Google’s list of trending duo costumes for 2026, making it an easy choice for couples and best friends.
Hazel Hook from Descendants

Hazel Hook from Disney’s Descendants franchise rounds out the top 10. Her pirate-inspired outfit features bold red and black pieces, including a layered top, dramatic skirt, belt and pants, making it a striking choice for fans of the Disney films.
Captain Clark from Backrooms

A24’s Backrooms broke box office records this year, and its character Captain Clark comes in at No. 11. Google says a peg leg is the top trending product searched with the costume. Spirit Halloween also sells an official Captain Clark costume.
Dolly Parton

Country music legend Dolly Parton is No. 12 on the main list and No. 1 on Google’s list of trending kids’ costumes. She is the top trending person searched alongside blonde wig, proving her big hair and sparkling style never go out of fashion.
