Man Arrested Outside LeBron James’ Home; Police Investigate Felony Stalking Allegation

1 min read

A man was arrested outside the Los Angeles residence of basketball player LeBron James on suspicion of felony stalking.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call reporting a possible burglary at the property on November 6 at approximately 9:40 p.m. Officers took a man into custody at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations unit confirmed the arrest. The identity of the suspect and any prior contact with James or the property were not immediately released. Police have not provided further details regarding the specifics of the incident.

California law defines stalking as repeated, malicious following or harassment accompanied by a credible threat that would cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety or the safety of an immediate family member. A credible threat can be communicated through words, electronic means, or a pattern of behavior, and the alleged perpetrator must appear to have the ability to carry out the threat.

At the time of the arrest, James was in Cleveland with the Philadelphia 76ers for an NBA Cup game. He had previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers for eight seasons, winning an NBA title in 2020, before joining the 76ers in July.

This incident is not the first time a Los Angeles property associated with James has been the subject of a police investigation. In May 2017, a racial slur was painted on the front gate of a home he owned. James was not at the property at the time, and the vandalism had been addressed prior to police arrival. Investigators sought surveillance footage as part of that investigation, which occurred before James became an NBA player in Los Angeles.
