Lay’s just dropped 5 limited-edition holiday chips (here’s our verdict)

2 mins read

The brand says it has five new flavor variations of potato chips this holiday season under the brand’s new collection, Holi-LAY’S. There are three savory and two chocolate collections inspired by holiday dinner sides and desserts, announced in October, 2026. The chips will be available in the stores in phases from late October to December. Let’s take a look at what each flavor is and what they’re saying about them.

Lay’s unveils the Holi-LAY’S lineup

The Lay’s collection, created by PepsiCo, features a limited range of new flavours that will take centre stage at the holiday table – savory sides, a centre dish and sweet and salty desserts. It is a staged roll-out and flavors will be available from late October to December. No price has been announced yet.

Cheddar scalloped-style potatoes

This taste is based on the cheesy, creamy side dish. One of its first two flavors to go on sale is the one below, which will roll out across the country Oct. 25. One Food Network reviewer who sampled it called it the “real thing” that made it the dish this channel is all about.

Roasted holiday turkey

The strongest taste in the selection is designed to be as flavorful as roasted turkey and gravy. It’s also releasing countrywide on Oct. 25. Herb notes that reviewers talked about included sage, thyme, rosemary, not a bit of meat itself.

Maple bacon

This is a U.S. debut that promises to become a favorite, featuring Lay’s sweet maple and smoky bacon. Food Network reports that it’s already in demand in Canada. The brand says it’s “a sweet maple/smoky bacon balance.

Wavy milk chocolate

The crunchy, salty potato chips are hidden in milk chocolate. The taste hit is to be available in selected stores on 1st December. Lay’s has decided the chocolate chips to be the dessert side of the package.

Wavy Dubai-style dark chocolate

This version falls under the dark chocolate-pistachio category, which has recently caught on in Dubai-style chocolate bars. It is scheduled to be released at select stores on 1st December, and will be rolled out more broadly in 2027. At the time of writing there were no published tasting reviews available of this flavor.

Release dates at a glance

Cheddar Scalloped potatoes and Roasted Holiday turkey are coming to a store near you starting October 25th. Maple Bacon comes in on November 8. The chocolate-covered versions hit shelves Dec. 1 at certain stores. All 5 are available at a specials price, availability at store may vary.

What early reviewers said

One Tasting Table critic described the chips as “inventive,” and said that the turkey chips do what they say they do and taste like a potato chip. Allrecipes.com writer admits she was concerned about the turkey taste and is glad she wasn’t disappointed. She was impressed with the Maple Bacon for its sweet and savory balance and said that the Wavy Milk Chocolate chips were special.

The verdict so far

Initial user feedback indicates that even the more unusual combinations have savory flavors and Maple Bacon and Wavy Milk Chocolate garnered the most positive comments. Cheddar Scalloped-Style Potatoes has received fewer detailed reviews, while Dubai-style chips lack any reviews so far. As taste is subjective, anyone interested in any of the five should sample a bag to find out.
