Sonic’s new holiday items arrive in the Sonic app on October 26, giving app users an early look at the seasonal menu. The drinks and burger will then join regular menus at locations nationwide on November 2, for a limited time.

The star of the lineup is the Santa Slush Float. Sonic combines vanilla and cherry soft slush flavors, then tops it with vanilla soft serve and a cherry, all served in a themed cup, transforming the chain’s popular slush into a holiday treat.

Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief brand officer, said the group aimed to develop a limited-time beverage that would be a fun addition to the chain’s popular slushes. The idea was to give guests a little bit of extra holiday cheer.

If you haven’t had your fill of holiday sodas, Sonic is offering up their own with Coca-Cola with sweet cream and vanilla syrup. That’s a little bit like an upgraded dessert soda for the season.

And topping off the drinks is the Merry Berry Fizz. This Sprite-based drink features loads of berry flavor, for a fizzy, fruity concoction that stirs memories of a traditional holiday party punch.

Dickerson described the Sonic Smasher as the chain’s premium, made-to-order burger. He said adding new flavors to the Smasher is part of Sonic’s strategy to keep building on what he called a standout in its burger lineup.

Deals to watch for

Before the holiday menu goes nationwide, Sonic is offering 50-cent corn dogs all day on Halloween at participating locations. In November, the chain will also add a $7 Big Meal Deal with a cheeseburger, chicken bites, a medium drink and a choice of tots or fries.
