McDonald’s is bringing back its Boo Buckets for Halloween, and this year’s collection has a villainous twist. The new Happy Meal buckets feature five classic Disney villains, from Ursula to Maleficent. They arrive on Tuesday, October 20, at participating restaurants for a limited time. Boo Buckets return
McDonald’s Boo Buckets are coming back. The iconic Halloween buckets, which are modified buckets that substitute a Happy Meal box, are available starting next week at participating McDonald’s locations. The new buckets will be around for a short time, and only while stocks last.
Five Disney villains
This year’s buckets each feature one of five well-known Disney villains. The lineup includes Jafar from Aladdin, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Scar from The Lion King, Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
Lids and stickers
Lids featuring the villain from each movie is included with each pail, along with a sheet of stickers. According to McDonald’s, the stickers are made up of characters and details from each movie that Disney fans will recognize, so families can decorate their buckets.
A tradition since 1986
Boo Buckets first appeared at McDonald’s in 1986. The original set included three orange pails, each with a different spooky face. Since then, the buckets have returned periodically over the years, becoming a nostalgic Halloween favorite for many fans who grew up with them.
Past bucket designs
Earlier Boo Bucket collections have featured classic Halloween monsters, including a monster, skeleton, mummy and vampire. About a decade ago, McDonald’s released Peanuts-themed Boo Buckets. This year’s Disney villains collection adds a new theme to the long-running promotion.
What comes in the meal
Customers can choose a hamburger, with the option to add cheese, or a four-piece or six-piece Chicken McNuggets meal. Each Boo Bucket Happy Meal also includes french fries, apple slices and a drink. The meal can be ordered in restaurants or through the McDonald’s app.
How much it costs
McDonald’s has not set a single national price for the Boo Bucket Happy Meal. Prices are decided by individual restaurants, so the cost may vary depending on location. Customers can check the McDonald’s app for pricing at their nearest restaurant.
Get one early
Because the buckets are only available while supplies last, fans hoping to collect a favorite villain may want to visit early. The Disney villains Boo Buckets will replace the usual Happy Meal box at participating locations until stock runs out.
